Happy New Year!

As many of you know I am reopening the Private Client Feed and splitting it into two services: TS Options and TS Futures.

From now until the end of the year, I am making them both available in a special bundle that also includes TS TradePlan.

I wanted to create a package so exceptional and full of so much value that once someone spent time trading with it, they would never let it go.

So, I did. This package priced individually retails for over $670.00 and requires a $397.00 lifetime indicator license.

You are getting everything for just $349, and you get to keep that price for as long as your subscription remains active, if you act before the end of the year. Cheers!

Trade smart and trade well,

TraderSmarts

Example # 1 - GLD Options Trade

Obviously, there was more to it - just showing the main idea.

We were short gold via GLD put options based on the macro analysis from GC TS TradePlan.

You can see what happened next ...

Example # 2 - YM Futures Classic TS TradePlan Setup

The reasoning behind this trade can be found in the analysis in the bottom right hand corner of the chart

One reason I like this example is because everyone sees Range Short and thinks "sell". Not always. In this case we captured the TREND UP during U.S. cash session from Range Short to Highest Odds Short with a long trade.

Example # 3 - GC Futures Momentum Short

Some of the best trades, I think, are the trades that go immediately in your favor. That is why I incorporated momentum into my strategy back in 2011. I wrote about it at the time.

In this trade we shorted GC expecting momentum down on a break of the days' LIS Zone.

How I Trade Options

I like to take something complicated, like options, and make it simple.

So, I forget about everything else and focus on one thing: intrinsic value.

Intrinsic value is essentially what an option is worth if you remove all the other factors. So, if you own, for example, a SPY call option (regardless of expiration date) with a 300 strike and SPY is trading at 320 the call option would have an intrinsic value of 20.

Are you still with me?

I trade options on SPY GLD and sometimes USO based on correlations in ES, GC and CL TS TradePlans.

So I simply look for opportunities where if price gets to my target in either ES GC or CL, and SPY GLD or USO to their correlating price, before expiration, the price of the option I am looking at will either double or better from where it is currently trading, based on intrinsic value alone

Obviously if it gets there days or weeks before expiration, it will also have added time value.

Let's look at an example:

Context: ES had pushed up over day's Range Short after testing and finding buyers multiple times during the session at day's Range Long.

It was the end of the Quarter the following week. It was very likely price would want to test higher up towards Highest Odds Short if price was able to keep holding above Range Short and day's LIS.

Trade: So, I stalked long 292.5 SPY CALLS with the same day expiry using ES Highest Odds Short as the Target for correlation in SPY at 293.30 SPY target.

Expectation: was that ES would not take out the day's LIS and for confirmation that price would likely hold above Range Short (indicating buyers were in control).

If the expectation played out, then participants were likely to push prices even higher up towards Highest Odds Short First Time Up in ES.

See how this ended up playing out intraday in SPY in the chart below.

Big Brain Section

Frequently Asked Questions

TS TradePlan

01   What time is TS TradePlan posted for clients?

TS TradePlan is posted for clients prior to the London open. The trading plan is usually posted a couple hours after the U.S. cash close. It is valid for Europe, United States, and Asian trading until the next day's trading plan is posted.

02   Why not post closer to the U.S. open if you are U.S. based?

The markets are increasingly global and futures trade roughly 24/6. Many originating moves start during Globex hours. (See the next question). Additionally, there is a huge advantage for U.S. based traders to be able to see how the markets have reacted to the trade plan during the overnight trade. Often when I wake up and see how price has traded in relation to the plan it is like "lightbulbs" popping off in regarding clarity of what to likely expect for U.S. cash session.

03   What markets are covered by TS TradePlan?

TS TradePlan covers the S&P-500, Dow Jones, NASDAQ 100, Russell 2000, Euro, Oil and Gold. The specific instruments are YM E-mini Dow futures, ES E-mini S&P-500 futures, NQ E-mini NASDAQ 100 futures, RTY Russell 2000 futures, 6E Euro FX futures, CL Crude Oil futures, and GC Gold futures.

04   Is this for experienced or novice traders?

TS TradePlan can benefit any type of trader from very experienced to the extreme novice. This is because support and resistance are universal concepts. Knowing in advance where price is likely to react is an advantage any trader can capitalize on.

05   Why is the YM trading plan included in this bundle?

When it comes to equity futures indices (ES YM NQ RTY) I primarily trade YM. It is important to me that you can reference the YM Trading Plan that I will be referencing in TS Futures so that you can see / have context of what is being discussed.

06   Can I get a different market than YM?

Yes, the bundle includes YM and 2 other markets which you choose.

07  What if I want additional markets?

You can purchase TS TradePlan for any instrument (ES YM NQ RTY 6E CL GC) for $67/mo.

Frequently Asked Questions

TS Futures

08   Why do you trade YM instead of ES?

In trading you have to find what works for you. YM works for me. That's the short of it. You probably want to know specifics though. One big thing is I like that I can track the 30 DOW components and see at a glance what they are doing. You can only do that with sectors in the S&P. The other things are better fills, better spreads, and round numbers. I won't go into detail but I'm sure you can figure out what I mean.

09  Do you talk about other markets besides YM?

Yes. I reference and use ES NQ and RTY for confluence and divergence in my YM trading. I will also mention things setting up in ES NQ RTY even though I execute in YM. Additionally, CL GC, and sometimes 6E, are traded.

10  When is the best time to trade?

There are two specific time periods for futures that offer the best opportunity based on volatility. The first being 5 - 9 AM PST (8 AM - 12 PM EST), which covers most major U.S. economic releases, the 6E Euro FX futures, CL Crude Oil futures, and GC Gold futures pit opens, the U.S. cash open and the London close. The second-best time to trade is 11 PM - 2 AM PST (2 AM - 5 AM EST) which covers the London open. The significance of the London open is we often get originating moves in instruments like 6E Euro FX futures, CL Crude Oil futures and GC Gold futures based around the London open.

11   What time is TS Futures active?

The short answer is roughly 24/6. We will take trades anytime during the Globex session. However, most activity takes place between 7 - 11 AM CT (9 AM - 1 PM EST).

12   Is this a trade room, chat room or signal service?

This is an opportunity to learn how to utilize the analysis in TS TradePlan in a real time environment on both a macro and intraday basis in futures. Exactly what I am stalking is laid out in advance with defined structure, risk, targets and ongoing trade management. Please see my thoughts on alert services below. You are responsible for your own risk.

13   How do I access the alerts?

Either via Private Twitter or SMS text message, your choice.

14   What are Intraday Exhaustion Levels / Intraday Exhaustion Targets?

First let's talk about static vs. dynamic levels.

TS TradePlan provides static levels going into the trading session that do not change. During the session I execute based on those levels and the context of what price is doing in relation to those levels. TS TradePlan is the structure of my main trading plan for the day.

The market will want to gravitate towards these static levels. Since the market itself, though, is not static but dynamic and constantly moving based on what the participants are doing, I also get levels that are generated intraday. I call these levels intraday exhaustion targets or just "exhaustion" for short.

TS Futures Clients will also get these timely and prescient exhaustion targets.

15   Is this a trade room, chat room or signal service?

This is an opportunity to learn how to utilize the analysis in TS TradePlan in a real time environment on both a macro and intraday basis in options. Exactly what I am stalking is laid out in advance with defined structure, risk, targets and ongoing trade management. Please see my thoughts on alert services below. You are responsible for your own risk.

16   How do I access the alerts?

Either via Private Twitter or SMS text message, your choice.

17   Do you take losses?

Yes, of course we take losses. Anyone trading any market experiences losses. Your losses must be kept aligned with your risk plan.

18   How long do you hold trades?

There are three holding periods for options; intraday, roughly 1-4 days, and longer. Most options trades are of the 1-4 day variety. Futures trades are generally closed intraday.

19   What is the biggest disadvantage of this options strategy?

Since options are decaying assets by nature and since most options expire worthless -- having a strategy that involves buying/selling puts and calls means you immediately have time decay working against you upon entering a trade.

I combat this in 2 ways:

  • On what I classify as swing trades I do this by correlating the expiration date of the options with the time I expect price to reach its target and then giving myself a time cushion.

  • Trading less. I wait for everything to line up and then execute and I'm okay missing if everything doesn't line up.

Important Message to Prospective Clients

My thoughts on Trade Rooms, Trade Alert Services, Signal Services, etc.

In general, they = a big avoid. Why? If you want to have any type of success in trading, you must learn to trade what works for you. If you are already successful you have probably found this statement to be true.

You cannot be successful and especially cannot have any long-term success copying somebody else's trades.

Let me repeat that; you cannot be successful copying somebody else's trades.

Only you know your risk plan and risk tolerance. If you don't have a risk plan you should leave this website and come back when you do. You are responsible for your own risk.

So why am I offering a private feed that will have actionable alerts considering how I feel about "alert services" in general?

Because, in the right context, I think they can have tremendous value. In general, avoid. In the right context tremendously helpful. The right context is when you are learning something or learning how to use something by gaining insight that you wouldn't have otherwise. I have gained a ton from watching experienced traders execute in real time and being able to understand their thought process as they do.

That is what I aim to provide with TS Futures and TS Options. You are going to gain unique insight into how I view and utilize TS TradePlan throughout the trading session. You can't get that kind of day to day insight from the "How I Trade" PDFs we give to every client.

Now, again, your goal should not be to utilize the trade plan the way I do, and certainly not to copy trades, but rather to take the insight you gain from how I use it and make it your own.

The same with TS Options. You are going to see how I use TS TradePlan for ES GC and CL to trade options on SPY GLD and USO on both a macro and intraday basis. You are going to see how I correlate time and price targets and choose which expiration and strike to participate with.

Yes, you are also going to get the trades ahead of time and be able to see how they play out. Just remember—your goal is to become the best version of yourself as a trader that you can be, to constantly develop and refine your plan until it works flawlessly for you, not to be a parrot and parrot someone else's trades. That is not what this service is for. You are responsible for your own risk.

If you can accept that responsibility, I will welcome you aboard.

Risk Disclosure Example: Futures trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing ones’ financial security or life style. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.

Hypothetical Performance Disclosure Example: Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. no representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. for example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results. Full Disclaimer and Terms Of Use
